When you make your choice of test date, please consider that while PTBC requires 30 days to process an application, there are factors that can add to the overall process time.

Fingerprinting for out-of-state applicants can be a lengthy process. You will not be made eligible to sit for the exam until clearances are received from the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. You may want to consider using the Livescan service in California.

If you have criminal history, and have not provided and explanation and certified court documents with your application, be proactive in providing your supporting documentation to the Consumer Protection Services (CPS) unit. You will not be made eligible to sit for the exam until CPS completes their investigation and grants you a clearance.
